Ski touring tip

‘To Hell and Beyond’ – Ski tour to the Höllkopf (2,194 m)
The ‘Höllkopf’ lies in the Mieminger Range and is a subsidiary peak of the Grünstein. This is an ideal tour for the whole winter; the 1,043-metre ascent can be completed in around 3 to 3.5 hours.

The ascent leads past the Lehnberghaus towards Hölle. You then climb 400 metres in altitude, partly quite steeply, up the left-hand cirque to reach the Hölltörl (at 2,126 metres). From here, it is not far to the ‘Höllkopf’. The final 73 metres of ascent lead up a north-facing slope to the summit. The descent follows the ascent route. Depending on snow conditions and temperature, you can stay in the shade or, if there is firn snow, head for the sun-drenched slopes.
