Our History
1968 - 1969
The history of the Hotel Mooswald began on Maundy Thursday 1968, when our grandfather and great-grandfather, Stefan Falkner from Sölden, purchased the Bergland guesthouse in Obsteig. In the spring of 1969, our parents, Edith and Franz Stierschneider, moved from Sölden to Obsteig and took over the guesthouse.

1969 - 1990
Work on the major conversion into the Hotel Bergland began as early as autumn 1969, and the hotel opened in spring 1971. The first sauna followed in 1975, and the country house was built in 1980. The first lift was installed in 1987, and in 1990 the hotel underwent extensive renovation and extension work, which included an indoor swimming pool, an expanded dining area, a fitness room, guest rooms and hotel apartments of around 50m².

1990 - 2022
Over the following years, ongoing renovations and modernisations were carried out to ensure that comfort and quality for guests remained consistently high. Apartment Block 1 opened in 2004, followed by Apartment Block 2 in 2016. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Apartment Block 1 underwent partial renovation, and in autumn 2022, the country house was comprehensively modernised.
2025
In autumn 2024, the Bergland family-run hotel is set to take another major step: with the next generation taking over, the hotel will continue under the new name ‘das Mooswald’ from March 2025 – a symbolic step towards a promising future.
